Restaurant Tibet is so closed at Yak Kunga’s

There are food that I eat regularly and others which is not familiar to me, as the Tibetan cuisine. A few weeks ago, with a group of friends I tested a Tibetan restaurant in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.

Taste of the meal Tesing a restaurant is exploring the menu but when you have to discover new specialties, browse the menu can be quite long. Fortunately, Yak Kunga they describ each dish. A la carte or formula? I chose à la carte: a salad with noodles and thinly sliced beef as starter and a plate of curry of lamb served with a bowl of soup and rice . Verdict: It was pretty good but not exceptional. Vermicelli of the salad was too tough and finally it wasn’t really exotic. For the main course, I was expecting a stronger and more curry flavored lamb. And here are some pictures of the food we had at the table. You will see from the pictures, some dishes are served with a rolled bun. This is rather unusual …

Setting In the room, typical decorations of Tibet but also framed pictures. It is rather plain and with the dim light the setting is quite nice.

Apercu-de-la-salle

Service There are restaurants where they clearly rush you to order, eat and pay (Sapporo’s at rue Daunou, for example), but here, the waitress took over her time for taking our order and  to serve us. We enjoyed that she didn’t rush us once we ate but at the same time we wait her for a very long time for desserts without asking us if we wanted coffee.

Price This time, no special offer we pay the price displayed on the menu. With a starter and main course, the meal cost me € 18. This is not excessive even if the plates are not well copious.
