I said it but I had difficulties to keep my word and come back here to feed the blog but I had a opportunity that I couldn’t decline (I’ll talk about it next month!). But I come back and I mean it (you believe me, don’t you?) ! I found some help to update WordPress and to change the language plugin (and that’s why the display of some articles is not ok but I’m working on it). I have a lot to share with you : new tested restaurants, new travels, and of course, some knit projets ! And actually, I’m starting with a knit project!

After 8 or 9 months of hard work, I’m now free and I can choose my own projects. The first one I started right after is a special order. Few months ago, one of my girlfriends asked me to design and knit a cardigan that would match with her wedding dress. The event will take place in Brittany late on August and even if we have a very hot summer, she is so sensitive to the cold that she wanted to have something to warm up if the weather is not hot enough.

The bride-to-be wanted something fuzzy with eylets and super slouchyFor yarn, helped by Natalie from 1001laines.com website, I did some gauges with a range of Drops yarns.

We found the fussyness with the Drops Air which is as light as warm. I also tested Drops Brushed alpaga silk, Drops Kid silk and Drops Sky yarns but the Natural color was too dark to match with the white color of the wedding dress and the White color would have been too white. I know, with these pitcure we barely see any difference…

For design, I advised something more fit to highlight her outline so we chose a wrap-over top. After measuring her body, I drew the top, made some calculations to convert centimeters in stitches and rows, and here we go!

As I ate stitching, I thought steps for reducing stitching, so I knitted front and back in one go thanks to circular needles and a 100 cm cable.

To reduce the roll effect due du plain knitting, I started with ribs 2/1 and then go on with plain knitting. As the wrap-over top hardly cover the hips I quickly started to descrease for the low-cut neckline.

When I get the harmhole, I split to go on only with one front. Here in the picture, the right front is finished, I’m going on with the back.

What do you think so far? I have to admit that I’m pretty nervous as I knit clothes in adult siza only since 2017 and for this project, I create a brand new design for someone who is not myself and it is for a very special day. I hope it will be nice and that my friend will love the result!
