Santorini What eat and tested restaurants at Fira

When I travel, I like discovering culinary specialities. And I could say that sometimes I choose my vacations according their culinary specialities… When I go to Greece, for me there are 3 culinary specialities that I must eat.

1- Pita bread and gyros

In France we know kebabs but here in Greece, they call it Gyros. It’s smaller, it’s made with pita bread, tzatziki and it’s so much better. I could eat that everyday (during my holidays) but I would become so fat.

La boutique de Louise Discover and amazement

Last week I was invited by Min from the Blog Skulls-and-bows to discover her girlfriends’ lovely shop Arianne and Florence. La boutique de Louise, is the kind of shop that I love but I never had the opportunity or time to visit it. It was for me a great opportunity to discover this address, products and the initiators of the project but also to meet and review bloggers for a afterwork 100% girly.

To talk about the shop itself: it was for me as enter a cave of Ali Baba with 1001 wonders, colored version with lots of flashy colors and pastel, filled with things more or less useful but still beautiful and / or very cute . My eyes were round like balls full of stars and colors.

There are elements of decoration, items for the kitchen, stationery, toys, fashion accessories like leather goods, jewelry, etc.. Finally lots of things and if I could worth it, I’ll left with not less than half of the shop! I’ll let you discover through this series of photos.

Restaurant Having diner at Seine’s bank

Last week, relying on a nice weather I went to dinner on the banks of the Seine on a barge docked at the foot of the Pont Marie in Paris. A friend had given me this article to test the address.

Le Willow – French food

Taste of the meal A la carte just a few choices: seafood marinades served cold rated as very exotic name “Ceviche” and Burgers. The ceviches are served without anything so you must order an side dish and it’s not so good: not bad but really nothing special. For my part, I chose a chicken burger and it was not too bad. The bread was rather soft and the ingredients were pretty well seasoned. Too bad it was served with just a small salad …

For dessert, two possibilities: cheesecake or chocolate hazelnut pudding. I chose the pudding. Served warm, it has an amazing presentation but in the end it was ok but a bit heavy.

Setting The real plus of this address is the setting. Willow offers tables on platforms but also on the barge where you can admire the Seine and its bridges. By cons, we had a little less luck, we were placed at the rear of the boat, near the kitchen. We were not able to enjoy the bucolic atmosphere given up by the boat and put forward by the articles talking about the address … Fortunately, we still had a beautiful sunset!

Service Placed at the back of the boat, we saw a constant ballet of waiters but few care of our single table. Too bad…

Prices Dishes (ceviches and burgers) are displayed at 13€ and the side dishes cost 4€. It cost 7 € for a dessert. Regarding drinks: 5€ for a soda and 38 € for a bottle of rosé it’s a little expensive.

Recommendation’s rate : 2/5 This is a place worth for setting, but the price/quality ratio is rather disappointing.

Restaurant Aux 2 oliviers, 5 years later

Last week, I was looking for a new restaurant to test in Paris between Les Halles and St Michel. In my research, I came across this restaurant that I tested in 2009. After nearly 5 years, it no longer counts is not it?

Aux 2 oliviers – French food

Taste of the meal What made me come back to this place several years later, it’s the memory of this delicious crème brûlée with foie gras. So I did not help myself but order the same thing: the crème brûlée of foie gras, apple chutney and toasted spice bread. Unfortunately, I’ll admit I was slightly disappointed. The cream was good but really nothing more. So is what I sublimate my memory and it distorted my experience, or is it that my palate has matured over the years and I have become more demanding?

Anyway I was also disappointed for the main course: duck breast with honey, mashed potatoes and pear wine. The duck was good but honey sauce seemed to me a little bitter, a little as if it had been burned. And mashed potatoes was so-so. At the table, there was a wok caramelized pork with honey, and a cod and mashed sweet potato sauce.

For cons, the dessert was really good. I ordered a strawberry tiramisu revisited and it was perfect: not too sweet, the cream was very good and the balance between the biscuit and cream was perfect.

Setting Wooden tables and chairs with cushions and covers, towels fabrics: the decor is fairly standard but enjoyable.

Service  Nothing special to notice.

Price It costs between 8 and 10€ for a starter, between 16 and 25€ for a main course and between 8 and 12€ for a dessert. Having booked via LaFourchette, we had -50% dsicount. My bill amounted to 25€ for a starter, main course, dessert and a drink which is quite interesting. Without offer, I’d find the restaurant a bit expensive.

Recommendation’s rate : 3/5
